Chisenhale Gallery’s Youth Forum meet once a month to take part in varied creative activities and events. Providing creative education outside of the classroom environment,
Propeller is for young people aged 15-20 who have an interest in art and want to have an engagement in an arts institution, to collaborate with artists and make new friends.
From December 2011 artist Benedict Drew is working with
Propeller to produce a collaborative artwork which will be presented in Summer 2012.
Chisenhale Gallery is partnering with IKON on Year 2 of their
Slow Boat project, this will involve
Propeller working with Ikon Youth Programme (IYP) to travel up and down to Birmingham by narrow boat in Summer 2012. Arriving in London during the second week of the Olympics, Slow Boat will be moored outside Chisenhale for one week of events around the boat.
Previously, members of
Propeller worked with artist Maya Darrell Hewins to create a series of animation films. They have also been visiting contemporary art galleries, working with sound and exploring Dada experimental films.
All their work and resources from the workshops are available on Propeller’s
blog. www.propelleronline.org.ukThe next meeting is on
