You’re the Boss: Park Life
August 2008
During the summer holiday artists Daniel Lehan and Catherine Hughes spent three days working with members of the Tower Hamlet Youth Offending Team (RAP) to develop a public artwork.

Taking You’re the Boss’s motto to heart the artists were selected based on the different skills they could offer, to enable the young people to make an informed choice of which techniques and disciplines they wished to use as the workshop developed. Catherine Hughes focuses on film and Daniel Lehan combines text and performance.

The group began by exploring language, text and shape in the form of political paper airplanes and from there became fascinated with paper sculpture and started to investigate origami. The end result was a film directed by the young people of paper origami swans being released into the local canal in Victoria park.
